URBAN AFFECT NETWORK
The Urban Affect Network is an MIT-based initiative that explores the intersection between urbanism and art to foster societies that are emotionally stronger. We seek the creation of a network of professionals and volunteers from all around the world working creatively on the psychological well-being of our communities.
WHO ARE WE?
We met in 2017 at the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT and soon discovered our shared passion about art and cities. We have a compound background in Architecture, Music, Anthropology, Photography, Community Development, and City Planning. We count on other professionals with expertise in Psychology and Public Health.

I believe in the role of creativity in building an equitable society. I work at the intersection of public art, civic media and urban design.
Antonio Moya-Latorre / ARCHITECT & PIANIST
I believe in the need of universal access to culture to expand everyone's capabilities. I work on the diffusion of art among vulnerable populations in Spain and Latin America.

Nicole L'Huiller / TRANSDISCIPLINARY ARTIST
I explore spatial experience, perception and the relationship between sound & space, based on the idea of sound as a construction material of spaces, identity, and agency. I believe in the intersection of art, music, architecture, science, and technology in order to open questions about possible futures, redefine how we perceive our environments, and most importantly: trigger connection and empathy between human and non-human agents.
Emilio Hernández / TRANSDISCIPLINARY ARTIST
I am an applied imagination practitioner driven by the pursuit of changes and the spread of knowledge. I am a creative human working at the frontiers of visual narrative interested in the future of education.
I am the creator of S P A C E Y, a peace-building platform that helps children from displaced communities imagine better futures. I am also the co-founder of MIRS, an established Mexican NGO that develops and implements educational programs to foster the emergence of design-led projects and build creative capabilities across different communities and social contexts in México.
